Listening Guide
Radio Malayalam brings together live streams in one player. You need an internet connection to listen: installing the site on your phone does not download broadcasts or make live radio work offline.
Start, pause and stop
- Choose a station and tap its green play button. Your browser may require this first tap before it allows sound.
- Wait for the connection. Once audio starts, the station moves to the top of the list below the player.
- Use the pink pause symbol in the top player to pause. Tap play to resume. Live streams may resume at the current broadcast rather than at the point where you paused.
- Tap the red square on the active station, or CLOSE in the player, to stop playback. CLOSE stops the stream; it does not close the website.
Previous and next follow the station catalogue order. Moving the playing station visually to the top does not change that order. The speaker button mutes or unmutes the player.
Save favourites
Tap + beside a station to add it to Favourite. A check mark means it is already saved; tap it again to remove it where allowed. Radio 4U Kanhangad is the default protected favourite. Open the Favourite tab to see saved stations and All stations to return to the full list.
Favourites, station preferences and listening time are stored in this browser on this device. They do not automatically follow you to another phone or browser. Clearing site data can remove them.
Listen through Bluetooth
- Pair your headphones, speaker or car audio using your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
- Select that device as the media-audio output, then return to the radio player and press play.
- Check both your phone’s media volume and the receiving device’s volume. The site’s speaker button controls mute; it does not scan for Bluetooth devices.
If the radio plays through the phone instead, open your device’s audio-output selector and choose the paired accessory. Calls and other apps can interrupt or redirect sound. Headset buttons and lock-screen controls vary with the browser and device and are not guaranteed by this website.
Listening while travelling
If a stream fails or stops buffering, the player retries the same station with increasing delays up to 30 seconds. It retries after a network connection returns. Pause and CLOSE cancel retries. The app caches its pages and settings, not live radio broadcasts. Audio cannot continue through a long signal outage. If your phone suspends the browser or blocks audio resuming, reopen the app and tap Play.
Connection problems
LIVE turns red when your browser reports that the device is offline. Green means the browser reports a connection; it does not prove that a particular station is broadcasting.
- No stations play: check Wi-Fi or mobile data, media volume and mute. Tap play again after reconnecting.
- One station fails: try another. The failed station’s server may be unavailable, its address may have changed, or it may restrict where its stream can be heard.
- Buffering: use a stronger connection and pause other large downloads. A station server can also be slow even when your connection is good.
- Browser blocks a stream: some old addresses use HTTP or unsupported formats. Do not disable browser security. Try the station’s confirmed official website or another station.
- Audio stops with the screen locked: check your phone’s battery-saving and background restrictions for the browser. Behaviour varies by device.
Station info contains source links where available. Community directory data can be outdated; an entry marked working by a directory is not a fresh playback test.
Station information
Open a station’s three-dot menu and select Station info. Known profiles open in a separate tab so the player can continue. Profiles cite their sources and say when details still need verification. Programme schedules belong to the broadcaster and may change; consult its confirmed official website for current timings.
Add a station URL
Use Add URL below the station list. Enter a station name and a direct HTTP or HTTPS audio stream URL, then select Add station. Your station is saved only in this browser and can be played, favourited, or deleted using the usual controls. Website page links may not play; use a direct audio stream. Clearing browser data removes your saved stations.
